Mysterious, beautiful and frightening percussive work using bowed gong and a variety of sonic and rhythmic sources from New York drummer/percussionist Tatsuya Nakatani.

Nakatani, Tatsuya
abiogenesis

Label: H&H Production
Country: USA

Mysterious and beautiful and frightening percussive work using bowed gong and a variety of sources from New York drummer/percussionist Tatsuya Nakatani. Nakatani is 1/3 of MAP with Mary Halvorson and Clayton Thomas, and has recorded with an impressive array of improvisers including Nate Wooley, Assif Tsahar, Michel Doneda, Ricardo Arias, Gary Hassay, &c &c. His solo percussion releases reflect both introspective and muscular facets to his music in pieces that use rhythm as just one tool in developing large sonic works that build and surprise. Delicately paced and well-recorded, this is an album of rare beauty and power from one of New York's most interesting percussionists.
