Post Henry Cow/Art Bears/News from Babel, Cutler's "Domestic Stories" is an amazing achievement that sums up the work in those latter bands with an instrospective and at times caustic examination of love and separation. Dagmar Krause provides the voice for these powerful vignettes, with Alfred Harth's charged and emotional sax backing her brilliantly. Lutz Glandien, who released the related "Scenes from No Marriage," adds an electro-acoustic edge that at time rips the sound apart, while the telepathic link between Cutler and Frith continues unabated. Highly recommended, a personal favorite, and in many ways Cutler's finest hour.
