Duets with Eugene Chadbourne on banjo and David Sait on guzheng, recorded separately and creatively mastered together by John Oswald as solos and duos.

Chadbourne, Eugene / David Sait
Auspicious Fish: Postage Paid Duets Vol.1

Label: Apprise
Country: USA

"The postage paid duet collaboration was an idea of time delayed set of events bound together by combing two improvisations created in a different time & place. The time lag affected the music in many interesting and complementary ways where random acts could criss-cross, colliding when they themselves inherently decided to. While driving (in pre-mastering mode), John Oswald devised a way to uncover another dimension to this recording by extraction portions of both Eugene's banjo offerings and the guzheng sections as stand alone solo pieces (giving a "fascinating comparison of aural viewpoints"). Eugene's banjo parts were recorded on top of a mountain in the Basque territory, about 30 miles into the hills outside Bayonne... a guy actually turned over his entire bar to allow him to record (the Anttonen Borda in the village of SAra, Euskadi). "Euskadi" is what the Basque people call "their own nation". Iban Regnier was the one who conceived, and put that whole recording experience together. The guzheng was documented at a more modest altitude in a diverse suburb about 30 miles Northwest of Toront on after hanging around with Eugene and Jimmy Carl Black over a weekend in September 2007. The weekend was packed solid with great Jack & Jim concerts, radio performances, duck feasts, hilarious tour tales and moments reminiscing about family"-ds 2008
