Charles Gayle, the almost 70 year old legend of free jazz, spent almost 20 years playing on the streets of New York City before being accepted as a serious player. Gayle begun his professional career in mid 80s performing in clubs like The Knitting Factory, and recording albums for Silkheart, FMP, Thirsty Ear and Clean Feed. He has worked with free jazz giants William Parker, Rashid Ali, Chad Taylor, &c. This new album has Gayle performing live with his trio of Hillard Green and Klaus Kugel at Poland's Jazzga Club, playing a set of original Gayle compositions, John Coltrane's "Giant Steps", and one traditional piece.
