Descriptions, Reviews, &c.

There are various artists releases and then there are various artists releases... this 13 track release made its way to Squidco as a promo and immediately made it into rotation on our weekly radio show. The album is well sequenced as it presents electronic, electro-acoustic, spoken word, lyrical and noise pieces, even a track played entirely on bicycles! At a very nice price, packaged in a dvd snap case and pressed onto a jet black CD, this is a compilation well worth any eccentric collection.

Featured Artists:

JP Jenkins

JP Jenkins of The Portland Bicycle Ensemble, Ghosting and Super Unity. He is AKA "DJ P-Unity" when you catch him at the club slappin hoes and gettin crunked! Here we just call him "Jpod"! You can find his work here:Onomato and Rasbliutto and Myspace

Doug Theriault

Has been playing great improvised music in Portland for at least 15 years. He is also half of the duo called "Dual" with Ed Chang of NYC. Doug is amazing! Doug Theriault!

cup na cup

Strange and electronic but not exactly "dancy" music. Its not exactly anything! (May make you urinate in a cup when you hear it). Curator of the Oregone audio documentary (CD). He and I are the same person. cup na cup Myspace page

Metal

Metal is Aaron Sheperd and Eric Adrian Lee of Portland. They keep the guitar pedal to the Metal! They are great and we are fortunate to have them featured on our compilation. See their sites: Artistery and Myspace.

Portland Bicycle Ensemble

Thses guys play the bikes they ride as instruments! If you ever get to see them live you would shit! cosmicjoke.com/PortlandBikeEnsemble

Biathalon

Biathalon is Eric Lee who is also in Metal, Cowboys from Sweeden, Wolf Choir, Laserwolf and some other band. He is brilliant! No its not true that he beat up Suge Knight. (Some idiot started a rumor that he did.) See ericadrianlee.com and his Myspace

Tonehenge

Tonehenge is the only person to have two tracks on the Oregone compilation. He is Shane of the Portland Bicycle Ensemble. When he isnt making stuff for CD release, he is busy counting sheep; real live sheep. Shane is the best! S.H.A.N.E.

Owl Dudes

These dudes dont play! I mean they play but they dont fuck around.. I mean they fuck around, but you wouldnt know it because they rock! I mean, they dont make rock, they make post hiphop/noise/strange..Good shit. Die Art Die!Also see them on Myspace

Bryan Eubanks

Bryan Eubanks does the most from coast to coast! He is the founder of the Rasbliutto Series/Label and is also part of the group "GOD". He is the man on and off the stage! He has done some great things for the Portland improvised music scene and is currently located in NYC. Rasbliutto Website

Every Drum A Star

This guy is half robot and half human! Though he is an "electronic artist", Brian Petty manages to infuse a human feel in everything he touches! We love him in a NON-sexual way! See brianpetty.com and his Myspace page

Shalloboi

Tyler and Stephanie Ritter of Chicago are Shalloboi. They used to live in Portland and moved to Chicago where they are happier. (Note they arent from Portland or Chicago). Anyway, no matter where Tyler and Stephanie are they are constantly creating beautiful analog recordings. We also love Shalloboi in a NON-sexual way! Myspace page and website shalloboi.com

Linsay Kaplan + Andrew Wilshusen

Lindsay is very nice and very humble and very good at everything she does. She is so talented that when you play her song on headphones you will think that she is right there next to you trying to seduce you in the butt..You will also feel the same way about Andrew, if thats what floats your boat.. Good stuff!
