Recommended Records (RéR) was founded by Chris Cutler in 1980 with the aim to produce records of the highest technical and musical quality. Recommended has consistently introduced excellent and interesting artists from around the world, many of whom might otherwise not have been able to release records adhering to their own conception and sound. Much of the music is the extension of the late 70's reference movement R.I.O. (Rock in Opposition), and RéR has also worked hard to bring Soviet-era artists to the ears of the west. ReR is also scrupulous about paying all due royalties to musicians, composers & artists for their work, truly a label for the artists. Recommended is a nerve spot in the roots of Squidco, who have documented their label since 1987.
