Recent Squidco & Squid's Ear Updates:

Composer/saxophonist performed "Composition NO 347 + 62'37" " at the 2011 Victo Festival with the "super-group" of Braxton alumni - Mary Halvorson, Taylor Ho Bynum, Jessica Pavone, Jay Rozen, Aaron Siegel, Carl Testa", on their respective instruments + iPods.


The fourth of a collection dedicated to the French Musique Action festival, here in a tribute to Tom Cora recorded in 1998 with Catherine Jauniaux, Phil Minton, Zeena Parkins, Christian Marclay, Otomo Yoshihide, Veryan Weston, &c. &c.


A 5 CD edition of this amazing audio project collecting mysterious recordings from the short wave band, with an expanded book from the original 1997 edition, plus a new booklet and additional CD, plus 4 postcards.


A series of duos and one solo work each from European/UK Free Improvisation masters, saxophonist Evan Parker and piani Agusti Fernandez, an astonishing display of creative interplay.


Portuguese saxophonist Rodrigo Amado's Motion Trio with Migue Mira on cello and Gabriel Ferrandini (Red Trio) on drums, rounded out with Jeb Bishop on trombone, in an album of inspired free jazz recorded in the studio.

Led by Jon Madof of Rashanim, the 13-piece band Zion80 explores the music of Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach through the lens of the Afrobeat funk master Fela Anikulapo Kuti, with Frank London, Cyro Baptista, Jessica Lurie, Matt Darriau, &c.


A great and active player coming out of the new Israeli Jazz scene, this is saxophonist Uri Gurvich's second CD on Tzadik, featuring his tight touring quartet with special guest Brahim Fribgane on oud.


A 2 CD set for the price of one presenting the best of four recordings sessions with Doc Chad in Austin Texas, with players including Ernie Durawa, Speedy Sparks, Earle Poole Ball, Walter Daniels, Susan Alcorn, David Dove and Redd Volkaert.

Young Italian improvisers Luca Pissavini (double bass), Simone Quatrana (piano) and SEC_ (revox, instant sound treatment) join veterans Ken Vandermark (reeds) and Stefano Ferrian (saxophones) for a double CD of exceptional improv.


Featuring Argentinian composer and improviser Andrew Raffo Dewar on soprano saxophone and the great Garrison Fewell on guitar, trombonist Swell leads this trio through the 10 part "Estuaries" based on a graphic score and poem written by Swell.
