Recent Squidco & Squid's Ear Updates:

The sextet of Jorrit Dijkstra (sax), Pandelis Karayorgis (piano), Jeb Bishop (trombone), Mary Oliver (violin), Nate McBride (bass) and Han Bennink (drums) once again take on the music of Steve Lacy in this second volume.


The trio of Guillermo Gregorio (clarinet), Steve Swell (trombone) and Pandelis Karayorgis (piano) use their unique selection of instruments to play an original set of composition and improv.


Originally the rhythm section for Chicago's Horse's Ha, Stirrup brings Fred Lonberg-Holm, Nick Macri, and Charles Rumback together for collective works exploring deep grooves, moody harmonies, and extended structures.



The Ex join with European and Chicago jazz artists Mats Gustafsson (saxophone), Ken Vandermark (sax), Wolter Wierbos (trombone) and Roy Paci (trumpet) for a hard-hitting album that fuses rock, improvisation, and African rhythms.


Konkurrent's 9th release of the "In The Fishtank" series pairs Sonic Youth (less Kim Gordon) with ICP (Instant Composers Pool) and Luc & Terrie of The Ex, recording in the studio while Sonic Youth was in Amsterdam for the 2001 Holland Festival.
