Gallio / Girod / Ulrich: Day & Bus
(Creative Sources)


A play on the Percaso band name "Day & Taxi", the trio of Christoph Gallio on soprano & alto saxophones, Dominique Girod on double bass and Dieter Ulrich on drums & bugle recorded this extended improvisation, a combination of scrambling, determined expression and post-bop creative jazz, part of the series "Life At The Zoo" at Studio the Zoo in Berne, Switzerland.

Boston's Leap of Faith Orchestra core duo is multi-reedist David Peck (PEK), also a multi-instrumentalist and keeper of Evil Clown's massive arsenal of unusual percussive instruments, and LOFO's drummer Steve Niemitz, also performing on a diverse percussion set, here in a quartet with synth player Eric Woods and cellist Glynis Lomon, captured from a 2021 live-streamed concert.

Led by bass clarinetist Tobias Schirmer and harmonica player Matthias Broede, also on piano, with Jan Roder on bass and drummer Bernd Oezsevim, this German quartet blends contemporary jazz through four original Brode compositions and two collective improvisations, performed with melodic intent and tight, quick interaction as recorded live at Tito's Zentrifuge in Berlin.
